From FutureNovo - Anticipating things to come
FutureNovo's mission is to promote foresight and dialog about the technologies of the future. To this purpose FutureNovo has created a web site where users are able to browse, research, contribute knowledge, analyze data and discuss the feasibility, time-frames, potential benefits and concerns about nascent and anticipated technologies.

The world is undergoing changes unlike any that have come before. One of the primary concepts embraced by FutureNovo is the accelerating nature of technological change. Though this acceleration has occurred throughout history, in the past the actual rate of change has occurred slowly enough to be easily adapted to by individuals and the societies in which they live. As change accelerates, however, advances will occur at an ever-faster pace relative to the time scales on which people and their institutions operate. This will lead to transformations at every level of our lives, both as individuals and for society-at-large. Since these advancements cannot be slowed, FutureNovo proposes that the best strategy for navigating such a future is to anticipate the changes of tomorrow in order to better deal with their potential impacts. We believe the best method for doing this is to utilize relevant technologies as they develop, to better anticipate and prepare for the changes that are to come.
[edit] Technological change is accelerating – Accept it
Much has been written recently about the accelerating nature of technological change. Since the early part of the 20th Century, we have entered a period in which this acceleration is becoming more and more apparent on human timescales. This is a process that has occurred throughout human history. (And, some may argue, for much longer than that.) This process isn’t something that can be altered by individuals or institutions or even governments. Short of a world-wide catastrophe, the current level of advancement will continue, bringing ever more change to our lives at an ever-increasing rate. Therefore, the key to managing our future is to accept the forces that drive it and use them to the purpose of managing it.
[edit] The tools for managing change exist in the changes themselves
As technological advancements are made, they will contribute to further advancement and change. The exponentially cumulative effect of this will be an inability to keep up without the creation of better tools. FutureNovo is committed to using current and anticipated technology to the purpose of creating these tools.

FutureNovo's slogan is "Don't just anticipate - Participate!" The future is ours - for good or bad, for better or worse. What it comes is down to us. We can either sit back and let it happen or we can direct it as best we're able given the tools and wisdom we have at our disposal. So join in, get involved. Create the future.
