FutureNovo FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
[edit] What is FutureNovo?
- FutureNovo is a web site dedicated to promoting and facilitating interest in and education about developing technologies and the future they'll bring about. The site provides a central hub where users are able to browse, research, contribute knowledge, analyze data and discuss the feasibility, time-frames, potential benefits and concerns about nascent and anticipated technologies.
[edit] Where does the name "FutureNovo" mean?
- Obviously the future is what this site is about. Novo is a latin word meaning "to make anew, refresh, revive, change, alter or invent". The name is meant to suggest that the future is anything but fixed, that it's filled with hope and possibility and that we're in the process of inventing it every single day.
[edit] Why would you want me to contribute? I don't know anything about (fill in the blank).
- Everyone has a special subset of knowledge that is unique to them. The corollary of this is that no one is so knowledgeable that that can’t learn something from someone else.
[edit] Why would I want to contribute?
- Who knows? Maybe you're interested in the future. Maybe you want a say in where this planet is headed. Maybe you're so specialized in your field that you're unaware of a relevant development in what you thought was an unrelated technology. The reasons are many, but only you know which ones draw you to this little experiment.
[edit] Why do you offer subscriptions? Isn't this site free?
Yes, FutureNovo is a free site created by the Users for the Users. Though the subscription program isn't active yet, we intend to offer additional features through it in the future. The subscriptions will be used to support feature development. From time to time, special subscription offers may be found here.
[edit] How do I create/edit an article?
- There are a number of articles to guide you in getting started.
[edit] How do I build a FutureLine?
- Anywhere you see your FutureLine, you'll find an "Edit" button at the bottom right corner. Click it and you'll open an event list where you can create your forecasts. You must be logged in to view or edit your FutureLine. More information about FutureLines can be found here.
[edit] Can I have more than one FutureLine?
- No. Not at this time.
[edit] Can I build my own GroupLine?
- No. GroupLines are aggregations of data from the entire FutureNovo community.
[edit] How do I access/edit my User Page?
Your User Page is accessible by clicking anywhere you see your user name. (Usually at the top of the page or at the bottom of your FutureLine.) To edit it, you must be logged in. More information about User Pages can be found here.
