FutureLines (including GroupLines and EventLines) are created using the SIMILE timeline widget.

Navigation

Navigation along the timeline can be done by dragging either of the two timeline bands. These have different scales and so drag at respectively different rates. You can also move by double-clicking within the band. The further from the center you click, the farther the double-click will take you. (Try it. It's easier to see than to describe.) With the timeline selected, hitting the 'Home' key on the keyboard will take you to the first event. Hitting 'End' will take you to the last event. (If for some reason you find you can't locate the events after moving around, hit refresh on your browser.)

Groupline: All

Events

Each of the events on the timeline is clickable. Clicking an event yields a bubble containing the event name, a brief description, the criteria by which the event will be considered to have occurred and a link to the event's wiki page. Clicking on this link opens the page where further information and discussion about the event can be found.

Options

At the bottom right of the GroupLine are two drop-down boxes allowing for different views of the data. The first selects the desired category. The second selects the from the Minimum, Average and Maximum of the forecasts for each event. (Play with these - the results can be fascinating.)

The [+/-] at the top right of your personal FutureLine can be clicked to hide or show you FutureLine.

Build it

After logging in, an additional timeline appears - your own FutureLine. Click on the edit button to create or modify your own forecasts of future events. For more information about building Futurelines, click here.
